Guernsey Together Retro 20 Festival

Guernsey Together Retro 20 Festival Friday, August 14, 2020

Mods & Rockers on the Friday night, there will be a mix of ska and mod covers from the Rough Tones and High Voltage. Later on some rocking and a rollin from Matt Bonneville & the Cage Shakers. The Guernsey Scooter Club will be displaying their bikes and the Guernsey Soul Collective will be playing sounds from the 60s.
On Saturday, we will be heading outside from 1pm for a Retro 70's Guernsey Get Together. Bring your own picnic or enjoy the BBQ on a family fun day out with old fashioned games, coconut shies, and face painting. There will be classic cars and bikes on display and a big stage of live music taking you from the free loving 60's through to the glamorous 70's to get you feeling groovy. Live music from 3pm with Liberate Rainbow Chorus, Grace & Elliot and Jack Heywood who will be playing an eclectic mix of covers from the era. As we head into the evening, The Day Trippers are back for a special unplugged gig. Les Blondettes will be tantalising us with a 60's motown set. Then to top it all off, the multi-genre, psychedelic five-piece band, The Recks, with their love for paisley and flares will be headlining with an upbeat, dancy, set to keep you moving. Closing with a 70's disco.
On Sunday we have live jazz, picnics and a classic car show from 11am to 4pm. Chill out to the sounds of Bordeaux Blue who will be playing their relaxed set of jazz and blues from 11am. Le Jazz Accord complete with rat pack singer Kieran Rose will be taking it up a notch and playing a range of songs from the Great American songbook as well as jazz classics from the likes of Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis and Charlie Parker. Then you are in for a special treat with a debut performance from the Paul Tongs Trio who will be headlining at 2.30pm.
A weekend celebrating 50's, 60's and 70's culture and showcasing live music, dancing, fashion and classic vehicles. Everyone is encouraged to dress up and get involved, if anyone is interested in learning to dance for the events there are dance classes held from 7-8pm at the Trelade every Wednesday evening. So dust off your bell bottoms and get out your boogie shoes, dazzle us with your glittery dresses and don those gold lame hot pants.
