A huge thank you for helping our lump bloom!
Tuesday 21 March 2017
We've enjoyed a fabulous start to this year's lump planting on
Salerie Corner and were thrilled to be assisted by local
schoolchildren from Melrose, La Houguette, Mare de Carteret and
Forest Schools who really mucked in. We hope they enjoyed learning
about horticulture as much as we enjoyed teaching them.
We appreciate that it's no small undertaking, turning our mound of scrub into a beautiful conservation area, but we've been really grateful for generosity of so many local sponsors who have come on board to make a real difference to the project. Hopefully by working together, we've created a lasting legacy that will act as a tribute to islanders affected by cancers.
Amongst the many volunteers and local businesses who have helped us, our sincere thanks go out to: R&A Scamp Cornwall; RV Rogers Yorkshire; Caroline Timms; Jan Dockerill; the States of Guernsey Environment department, Jill Tetlaw of The Guernsey Botanical Trust; Nigel Le Tissier of Bellefleur Ltd; Jamie Hooper from La Société Guernesiaise; Credit Suisse and Plant Heritage.
And of course, the project simply would not have got off the ground without the hard work, enthusiasm and expertise of award-winning horticulturist, Raymond Evison OBE VMH and his team at The Guernsey Clematis Nursery.
