Guernsey’s under-16 team win in blue
Monday 23 March 2015
Guernsey's under-16 team beat Jersey at the weekend's Muratti to
take back the Nigel Gavey Memorial Trophy.
The team sported a special blue kit for the match to help support local male cancer charity, Male Uprising Guernsey. The blue jersey reflects both the charity's colour and also Guernsey's historic blue kit last worn in 1905, at the inaugural Muratti game.
The match was a 1-1 draw at the end of the 90 minutes and the stalemate continued at the end of extra time. However, the Guernsey youngsters kept their nerve and won the match on penalties.
Trevor Kelham, MUG's founder comments: 'The team kit also featured the words: Pus Brâve, Pus Fort, Pus Malin, or Braver, Stronger, Smarter on the back and the team truly lived up to their motto this weekend. They are super ambassadors for the island and MUG is very proud to be associated with them.'
