MUG Ride25 Important Information
Friday 31 August 2018
Please read - We here at MUG Ride always want to put on the best ride we can for our supporters, this year we have tried to do something different. When we heard that the Nightride was having a well earned rest we decided to incorporate both events and have the Mug Ride and the Night Ride on the same day. This evolved into the Ride25 with riders taking on 1, 2, 3 or 4 25 mile laps of the Island to try and raise £25,000 to fund the new MDT room at the PEH.
We also wanted a family ride to happen, but due to timeframes and logistics this was planned on a slightly different route so that all the riders could finish at the MUG Mound at the Salarie Corner and then go on to the Boathouse for the afterparty.
When deciding on the entry fee we wanted to continue the 25 theme, with a hope of hitting our £25k target so we priced the family ride at £25 for a family.
Well it looks like the £25 per family message got missed. It looked like the cost of the family ride was £70! That's a lot of money and it's very likely the reason why no one has signed up for it!
So we've made the very difficult decision to cancel the 10Km family ride from Pembroke. Don't worry though - the other rides 25, 50, 75 & 100 miles are all still going ahead, and we're definitely going to have the party at The Boathouse (which includes food and a goody bag) - if you haven't signed up yet then please do at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mug-ride25-2018-tickets-481075… but don't worry you can still sign up on the day from 2.30pm at the Salarie.
As the ethos of the MUG Ride has always been about families riding together in support of a fantastic cause we have decided that we will be running the traditional MUG Ride in October along the usual route from Sausmarez Park to Vale Castle, using an off road route along the coastal paths and including the see-saw's, sharks teeth and roller obstacles that we've always used. We'll let you know the date once we've got all the permissions and organisation in place.
We're looking forward to seeing all of you that plan to ride on Saturday - The weather forecast is looking good and The Boathouse and Oak Trust can't wait to see you all at the party to have some great food, a few drinks and boogy to sounds of DJ One of a Kind!
