MUG SUP Race Series
Monday 15 May 2017
Races are open to everyone and are not only limited to stand up paddle boarders as surf skis, canoes/kayaks and prones are also invited to participate, with separate races for each category of watercraft. Participants must bring their own kit and all boards must have a leash to race.
Michael Richards, MUG council member, comments: 'MUG has always been a forward-thinking charity, and when the opportunity arose to sponsor a racing series for paddle sports including SUP, one of the fastest growing sports in the world, we jumped at the chance. It's the ideal platform for us to raise awareness of male cancers and the important summer-time, 'cream up before it shows up' message.

There is no need to register, just show up with your kit ready to race.
#MUGCreamUp Before It Shows Up
MUG's summer sun safety campaign is back, and what better way to spread the message than with Louis and our SUP race series?
Skin cancer is the second most common cancer among young people between the ages of 15 and 34, and more than eight out of every 10 cases can be prevented by enjoying the sun safely.
Alan Jenner, the owner of the Guernsey SUP School and organiser of the race series, is fully aware of the dangers of skin cancer and hopes the events will help raise awareness of how the disease can be prevented and spotted early.
There will be a 15-minute safety briefing before each race, during which Louis the Lobster will make a guest appearance handing out free sunscreen to participants and spectators.
Prevention Can Literally Save Your Skin
Keep out of the sun between 11am and 3pm
Cover up with clothing
Wear sunglasses and a hat
Use a suncream with a minimum SPF of 15 and reapply frequently and always after being in the pool or sea.
