It was both a pleasure and a privilege for Male Uprising Guernsey to be asked to join Raymond Evison Clematis at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025 where Raymond launched three new Clematis Varieties.
Clematis Elpis was named in association with two charities, Prostate Cancer UK and Male Uprising
Guernsey. “Elpis” is the Greek Goddess of spirit and hope, fitting for a plant linked to charities
who both raise awareness of the disease and recognise the importance of research to deliver breakthrough medicines and advanced treatments for those 1 in 8 males who will experience prostate cancer in their lifetimes.
To attend the show on Press Day was an immense experience for both MUG Honorary Patron Ian
Brown and MUG Council member Mark Chasey and his wife Erika. Many celebrities were also
attending on that day as well as King Charles who made a bee line for Raymond’s excellent display of
many 100s of Guernsey Clematis. Raymond ‘s Guernsey Clematis Stand was admired by the very
many visitors and fellow stand holders and was awarded the “Best Display in the Grand Pavillion”, a
first for Raymond who has now 35 RHS Chelsea Gold Medals.
Also attending was David James and Nura Makki, who head Prostate Cancer Research UK who will
also benefit from the awareness from global sales of Clematis Elpis. It was great to make connections
and hope to work collaboratively between MUG and PCR UK in the future.
