Owen was appointed as Consultant Urologist to The Medical Specialist Group in May 2012. Prior to this, he worked as Consultant Urologist in Nottingham for nine years, where he was Head of Department at the Nottingham Urology Centre, Lead Cancer Clinician of the Urology Department and Lead Cancer Clinician of Nottingham University Hospitals Trust. He trained at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London and developed a keen interest in urology at an early stage of his career; he undertook urology training in the UK, before travelling to Melbourne in Australia to undertake a prostate cancer fellowship. Mr Cole's surgical interests include laparoscopic prostatectomy (keyhole surgery for prostate cancer) and High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). He has extensive experience in the management of all urological cancers. He is also passionate about men's health promotion and the provision of information and holistic care for cancer patients. Mr Cole is married to Vicky and the couple have two young children, Sam and Matilda. Away from work, his interests include rugby and music. Owen has directly experienced the positive effects of MUG fundraising and awareness campaigns. "More men locally are seeking tests from their GPs as a result of MUG's campaigns. The urology service have benefited from hundreds of thousands of pounds of assistance from MUG in equipment purchasing and cancer nurse funding. Without this, we would struggle to meet the demands of men's healthcare on-island".
